OBAMA AGAIN IN THE OVAL
And
it is again Obama for the second term in the White House. The exit polls had
given Obama a slender but a good chance of winning the race to the most
powerful job in the world. Mitt Romney, the conservative Republican, came back
strongly from a primary defeat to John McCain back in 2008 and enjoyed a great
probability in the polls to be the America’s first Mormon president. As the
race was nearing its crescendo, Mitt Romney fared well in the debates, and the
Republicans thought they had a good chance of getting in to the Oval office.
Then
came along the devastating cyclone formed in the turbid waters of Atlantic,
Sandy, second only to Katrina in its destructive power wrecking havoc in the
eastern cost of America. Both the contenders stopped the electoral sparring and
engaged in relief activities with Obama leading from the front. This served
Obama’s and the Democrats presidential aspirations a real boost and the final
lap saw Obama leading Romney by over 100 seats. The majority of the swing
states voted for Obama and swing votes were once again for “The Democrats”. The
fact that Romney had the support of more than 58% of the white voters bring to
the fore the demographic change America is undergoing, from being a
predominantly white country to a country where Hispanics, Latin Americans and
Asian Americans could decide the outcome of the presidential race.
America
was a sad state when Obama took over the Oval house in 2008, the economy
slaughtered by the Republican war monger – Bush. Obama promised change, and was
engaged in this pursuit as soon as he assumed the office. But at the end of his
first term and at the start of the second, it is not too preposterous to assume
that America is still in the same sorry state as it was in 2008, but for the
difference that, this time Europe is well down in the quagmire. There are isolated
reports of the economy becoming strong and the jobs being created. The economy
will be under scanner for long days to come and Obama has a humongous task in
front of him to lead America from its desperate and rudderless listing to
that of a country cruising towards economic well being. Much depends on
America getting back on track – as much as the others might argue against it -
thereby tugging along the world economy to its previous booming splendor.
'economy slaughtered by the Republican war monger – Bush' - it was for other reasons that economy collapsed....US was strong enough to withstand the Afghan and other conflicts....
