JOSEPHS RULE
From the Bible, Joseph was Jacob’s (Israel ’s) eleventh son, who was sold by his jealous brothers and was taken to Egypt as a slave. Through his ultimate devotion to his God, purity of thought and austere life style, he rose to be the second in command to the Pharaoh. Biblically, Joseph means “He will enlarge”. There is another meaning given, as being “taken away”. Whatever be the meaning and the validity of the biblical story of Joseph, his rise to stardom, and being the eventual saver of Israelites, this name was always associated with people who was able, and wanted to make a change.
Starting from the Father of Jesus to the more contemporary times of this author, the name Joseph was associated with discoverers, politicians with will, and people with charisma. Some of these people with the name Joseph,who changed the world and the way in which we view it are introduced below.
Joseph Michel Montgolfier: The first manned flight was made possible because of the Montgolfier brothers, and out of the two, it was Joseph who first found about the lifting property of hot air and made the first prototype of the hot air balloon.
Joseph Priestly: An English theologian, and scientist is well known for his discovery of Oxygen
Joseph Conrad: Joseph Conrad was a Polish Born English Novelist. He is considered as one of the greatest literary artists. His style of writing was not confirming to the established English literature at that time. His anti – heroes and stories of adventure captured the admiration of the multitude. He was a great adventurer, some times slipping into the shady and murky world though. It is though that this life style of his might have given the protagonists in his novel the subtle grey shades.
Joseph John Thomson: Joseph John Thomson or J.J Thomson as he is popularly known was an English Physicist and Noble Laureate. His discovery of electrons won him the Physics Nobel prize for the year of 1906. Apart from electrons, he also discovered isotopes and also invented Mass Spectroscope
Joseph Stalin: Joseph Vissarionovich Stalin was the most powerful leader Soviet Union has seen till date. He was a man of great strength and transformed Soviet Union to one of the greatest, Industrialist and military power in the world. With his Iron fist he held Russia and uplifted her from her agrarian roots and transformed Russia to a super power.
Joseph Cyril Bamford: Most of the Indians might not have heard about a backhoe loader, but they sure will have heard about the JCB. In 1953 Joseph Bamford Invented Back Hoe loader popularly known as JCB in India . He also introduced Europe ’s first hydraulically tipping trailer. When he stepped down as the head of the JCB, he had built a business conglomerate which now spans 4 continents, operates in 15 countries and employs more than 8000 people. Joseph Cyril Bam ford’s philosophy was "Focus on what you do best, be innovative, and re-invest in product development and the latest manufacturing technologies;"
All of the above men were stalwarts of their time and changed the world in one way or other.
Now coming to the more contemporary times, I will introduce you to a Sagittarian who is outspoken, tactful, educated, wants to contribute to the betterment of the society, who has many ideas which he believes will change the world and make the world, a better place to live in, who has mastery in 4 languages, who can paint – Oil and Water, play guitar, who is a Master in electronic science, who will be a Master of Management in a short span of two and half years, has the willpower to stand by his commitments, wants to learn flying, who is agnostic, who has shown the courage to stand against the established norms, and finally, who writes a very beautiful blog – JOE SPEAK!!

If we compare the popularity statistics of JOSEPH to USA's population statistics, we can estimate that as of February.28.2011 23:37 there are 7,194,591 people named as JOSEPH in the United States and the number is increasing by 60,715 people every year.
